Canadian Hockey Professionals Inspire EGHA Players at Skills Clinic
Sunday, September 24, 2011

It was a morning full of skill development and fun as Canadian National Women’s Ice Hockey player Margot Page, Canadian Goal Tender Andrew Verner, and NHL Draft Pick / OHL Peterborough Petes Alumni Ian Armstrong lead the EHGA players through a series of practice drills.

Last season, Margot was introduced to the EGHA executive, coaches, players, and parents during the first skills clinic held by the league. She left a positive impression on the Ennismore girls hockey community with her unique development drills and remarkable talent.

“It’s a great opportunity for our girls to meet and train with Margot,” stated EGHA President Perry Longhurst. “Margot inspires our players to develop their skills and work hard on and off the ice. We are happy to welcome her back.”

Ian was instrumental in the success of this year’s Skills Clinic. As a clinic volunteer instructor and Coach of the Ennismore Girls Bantam B team, Ian organized the EGHA Skills Clinic with the support of EGHA executive. Ian’s expertise, enthusiasm, and dedication prove his commitment to help strengthen and grow the Ennismore Girls Hockey league.

Andrew, recognized for his outstanding goal tender instruction, offered an additional hour of training for the league’s aspiring goalies. He focused on techniques to help maximize the girls potential and to help them shut-out the shooters.

Not only did EGHA hockey players benefit from professional instruction but coaches and trainers took part in their team’s development session. The coaching staff acquired new practice drills and motivational methods to implement in future practices.

After hard work and fun on the ice, everyone enjoyed a BBQ hosted by the league. It provided an opportunity for girls to further develop relationships with their teammates and to converse off-ice with clinic instructors.

With the success of the 2011-2012 EGHA Skills Clinic, EGHA will continue to develop this event in future seasons. Go Eagles Go!
